  • Finish What You Started - Q & A - October 20th, 2013

Q & A with Pastor Josh and Jen

    Q. What keeps you both on the same page in life?

    A. Be flexible and bend when needed. Protect the time you have together and fight fair. You are on the “Same Team”!

    Q. How can we fight fair?

    A. Commit to good communication and have a “heart change” not just behavior modification.

    Q. Who gets the final say in decision making?

    A. The husband has the final say, if after much discussion and prayer you cannot reach an agreement. He also is responsible and accountable to God for the decision.

    Q. What about living together not married?

    A. Society vs Scripture - This does not please God and is not part of His plan for you.

    Q. What if have been sexually active now before marriage?

    A. STOP! God wants to bless you and your marriage. His plan for you is perfect.

    Q. What is lustful sex? What’s acceptable?

    A. Lust is selfish and dishonoring to your spouse. Lust is sinful. Desire is Godly. Pornography is probably the greatest source of lust. The marriage bed is undefiled, you and your spouse desire each other and agree together what is acceptable.

    Q. Should I censor myself regarding TV and movies?

    A. Yes, If you are asking this question you probably should. Change the station or leave the movie. Check out reviews.

    Q. How would I respond to my child who says that they are homosexual.

    A. Love them. Christ deals with sin through forgiveness and repentance. We love, not judge.

  • Finish What You Started - Step 3: "Stay Pure"

Scripture: Hebrews 13:4 “Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.”

Main Idea: The secular world is waging a war against purity in marriage and relationships.

Key Thought: God demands that we become and stay pure and enables us to do just that.

Eph. 5:3 “Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.”

    1. What is the source of impurity in your life?

    2. What can you do to become free and pure?

    3. What habits do you need to establish to stay pure?

    4. What is Godly sorrow and what will it accomplish?

    5. Why is God looking for remorse and repentance from us?

Next Steps: Get on your face before God, confess your sins, renounce them and ask God for forgiveness and the strength to remain free!

Verses to learn: 2 Cor. 7:10 “For God can use sorrow in our lives to help us turn away from sin and seek salvation. We will never regret that kind of sorrow. But sorrow without repentance is the kind that results in death.”
